Plans & Projects

Develop two continuous wildlife corridors in the Goring Gap, one each side of the river

Join up existing habitats by establishing new ones in between to create a longer and more viable safe haven for all flora and fauna, but with special regard to selected threatened species.

  1. On the Goring side of the river, between land owned by Beale Park to the south of Gatehampton viaduct, Hartslock NR, Little Meadow NR, through to Withymead NR and possibly South Stoke and beyond.
  2. On the Streatley bank, a corresponding long corridor between Lower Basildon and Moulsford.

This would be a major, long-term project requiring detailed initial planning work with an ecologist and hydrologists and negotiations with relevant land owners, but one which should make significant and demonstrable gains in the future with the aim of slowing down and then reversing, the current levels of decline of many species.
