Much research, planning and consultation with colleagues, expert advisors, landowners and other stakeholders is needed before initiatives develop into viable projects with specific objectives and detailed methodology. The estimated end-points for certain long-term projects may run into several years to achieve noticeable outcomes. Some projects involve Citizen Science, ie volunteers with or without professional qualifications who want to take part in environmental studies and work together to discover new information about their local environment.
